If we are to heal the earth, we must begin by healing birth.

Welcome to River Blue Birth.

I am Maliya Qutaw Eneq Rubio-Mills.

I am committed to the philosophy that birth is a normal, human experience and shall be held with reverence. It is sacred. It is ceremony. It is yours.

I believe that changing birth culture and reproductive care practices can have tremendous impact within our communities.

I am committed to a living practice that supports community, social justice, and empowered reproductive experiences.

I am committed to working together in exploring the ways in which you feel best supported and held, along the transformative journey of the reproductive spectrum.

Together we explore options that center you and your family’s needs while asking your/ our selves what it feels like to be an active participant in patient-centered care. My practice is centered in creating space that is respectful, inclusive, responsive, and compassionate, no matter what circumstances arise.

I am currently serving the San Francisco Bay Area as a Full Spectrum Doula offering labor and birth companionship, sibling support, pregnancy loss counseling, postpartum support, and placenta encapsulation.

In my spare time, I most often find myself ocean side with my dog, Kahlo,  parading through the parks of San Francisco, painting, dancing, cooking, and listening to music.

I am always learning.

River Blue Birth  is  proud to represent and uphold these Cornerstone Values

Commitment to intersectionality, inclusivity, and social justice:
We are sensitive to the needs of diverse families and work with all orientations, ethnic backgrounds, religions and gender identity.

Honoring choice:
We embrace all birth choices with utmost respect.
Reverence for birth:
We identify birth as a momentous experience for both the laboring woman/person and their partner(s).
Advocacy for the baby:
We recognize that birth is also a vital experience for the baby.
Respect for care providers:
We maintain the utmost professional integrity in all birth settings. We have strong professional relationships with Obstetricians, Midwives and Nurses spanning across the Bay Area and beyond.

Continuity of care:
We are 100% committed to each family we work with and make sure that we are available for every birth by not over-scheduling. In the rare case of an emergency, we always have a backup ready to step in that our families have met and feel comfortable with prior to labor.
