Beyond birth, I have found doula to be a role that applies to many aspects of life. Birthwork teaches us to engage tension, but not to indulge drama. It is another form of facilitation, making the miraculous experience of birth as easy as possible, intervening with any systems that make the process harder, helping the family attend to each other and listen to what the body is saying, staying focused on the possibility and wisdom of the body. Standing or sitting with someone as they realize, remember their own wholeness—that is the work of the healer and the doula.

The GREEN BOTTLE sliding scale was created by Alexis J. Cunningfollk. I invite you to visit them to learn more about this approach here.

Here is a general guideline of how I currently price my sliding scale to help you determine where you fall on it.

Tier 1: The highest dollar cost reflects the true cost of service. It is the cost that reflects the absence of a sliding scale. If you have access to financial security, own property or have personal savings, you would not traditionally qualify for sliding scale services.

Tier 2: You belong here if you honestly do not find yourself reflected in either description for the highest or lowest cost investment. *If you, however, can ask others for financial support, such as family members, partners, or friends, please consider using those personal resources before you use the resources of the sliding scale and limit opportunities for others.

Tier 3: The bottom cost represents an honest acknowledgment of economic circumstances that would prevent access to support if there was not deliberate opportunity to a cost/ value exchange that is reflective of economic realities. Even when the lower tier is still prohibitive, I will work with folks to offer extended payment plans and other fee solutions. Please contact me!

There are a limited amount slots for services offered at the middle and lower end of this scale. Please be mindful that if you engage at lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher ticket prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility. Being honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with sliding scale practices grows strong and sustainable communities. Additionally, when I am paid fairly, I am able to invest more time and resources to free and lower cost offerings.
